Recapping in 3, 2, 1!

Since my last post, things have been moving in fast forward.  Seriously.  Here's a recap!

TIME BETWEEN GRADUATION AND CHRISTMAS EVE!
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I finished my internship at FOX and it was amazing! I learned so much and had a blast.  I cried in the parking lot because I realized how much I had grown in that TV station.  It was pretty cheesy but after seven months you get attached. You know?

I was able to say goodbye on air and it was wonderful! It was pretty freaking awesome that I wasn't nervous talking on camera in a real TV station.  It was fantastic!
CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY!
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On Christmas Eve, Mickey had a seizure.  Ten days later he had another one.  He is now taking medication and has a neurologist (who apparently is super attractive based on everybody's opinion except mine) but he's the best of the best and so I like him! :) Mickey is doing better and we're waiting to hear back from his EEG to see exactly what caused these seizures.  Getting those calls he was being rushed to the hospital was seriously one of the worst feelings I've ever felt and I thank God for taking care of my Mickey.  He's such a trooper and he's doing amazing.  :)

We spent Christmas Eve and about 3/4 of Christmas Day at the hospital but we still had fun! He's a keeper,  I know.  :)

NEW YEARS!
/////////////////////
We had a blast! We went to a restaurant, watch When Harry Met Sally (annual tradition) and watched fireworks! It was wonderful! Oh and also had a little photoshoot with Mickey's camera, (also an annual tradition).  Two days later Mickey had his second seizure—making it epilepsy.  That hospital visit was shorter.  He went to the neurologist, then got an MRI done (good results), and then got the EEG.  He's been on medication for about a month now and is doing fantastic (as mentioned above).

EVERYTHING ELSE THAT'S HAPPENED IN 2014!
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Mickey has been gone on a couple of interviews and they've gone great but it's a long process.  This was right before the second one! He is so handsome!! :) Oh and we got haircuts before our interviews!

Yours truly landed a job at FOX!!! My first television home! :) I went on the interview on the monday that classes started back! It was weird not going to school! I got the call a couple days later saying I got the job! I have been working there since January 15, 2014 and it's been great! I'm a Production Assistant! People remembered me! It was great being back 22 days after my internship ended! I have a locker, a box, a badge, a code to get in the building-the real deal y'all! It's pretty cool!
This is what I get to see most of my days:

Other things: Mickey and I finally went to the zoo! We're looking at shooting tv-related things and have enjoyed watching Breaking Bad, What Not to Wear and Orange is the New Black on Netflix! We are enjoying this whole college grad thing.  I could get used to it!

Fast Forward

Umm…where does the time go?
Here is a recap of what's happened since I last blogged!

Mickey and I went to see the Rocky Horror Picture show, dressed up as Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley for Halloween and went to a Comic Con and met Nicholas Brendon.  I met Jamie Deen at my internship, Mickey and Deidra have been making me laugh a lot.  :) Mickey turned 22 years old!!!! I went on a live shot at my internship and covered a holiday event for my university.

Today, Mickey and I had our first graduation party (mainly for family and adults) and it was a complete blast.  So many people had so many nice things to say.  It brought tears to my eyes.  It's just amazing.  I'm so excited for things to come!
I can't wait to do graduation with you Mickey.  I love you!

Saturday, October 26

Hi!

So I've been incognito for over a month now and it's been super weird not blogging.  So, my plan is to make posts more often and shorter!
Bam.

That's it.

Just kidding.
Here are a few things that happened since the last time I blogged.

I've directed and produced my first two broadcasts for our student-run TV station!
I was the maid of honor at my cousin's wedding!
Mickey and I went ice skating on our way back from the wedding (in Houston)
I've made my own website, business cards, and Facebook personality page
I've been exercising four times a week and have picked up Zumba again!
Mickey and I celebrated our year and a half-aversary! (cheesy?) ;)
Mickey has another part-time job recording videos and posting them online for a magazine!
& we smelled fall for the first time!

P.S. Did I mention we'll be graduating from college in 42 days? Yup.  :)

Our first official Starbucks date the first time we smelled fall!

The Internship

No, guys, I'm not talking about the movie,
although, perfect timing right?

So a while ago I told y'all a bit about my internship.
So here are more juicy details. :)

I started on the 28th of May!
I remember my first day vaguely.
I just remember being really nervous
and following a reporter and photographer
It was kind of intimidating.
Grace, the reporter I followed, was very sweet and I learned a lot even from that first day. :)

Mickey had started that same internship the week prior (when I was in NYC)
so I was excited that I would know at least one person there!

This internship is a news internship for a tv station that's pretty familiar to everyone.
They are very laid back so it's up to you to learn stuff.
You get out of it what you put into it.

So here are some things Mickey and I've done in our internship:

-Followed (news) reporters and photographers
-Followed the entertainment reporter/photographer
(he's a one man show, he's awesome.)
-I've shot teases and standups
-We've been complimented
-We've written stuff that AIRED ON TV!
-We've edited
-Mickey's shot weather stuff and other things that got on air
-I've shot a couple of things
-Met fantastic people
-Had fun
-Learned things

We go there Monday-Thursday.
They even have a daytime show that I really want to be a part of!
I went to one of their shows and it was UNBELIEVABLE!
I actually danced during their credits (along with other crew members).

So, that's it!
We've been having fun!
Tomorrow Mickey starts his summer II classes!
And tomorrow I have an interview for another part-time job!
Wish us luck! :)

Happy Early 4th of July!

Oh and other stuff that happened to us here and just some other pictures :)

Our First Anniversary ❤

Well guys, I'm so proud and happy excited and blessed to be able
to tell y'all that Mickey and I have been together for a year!
March 18, 2012.
I cannot believe how fast time flies by, it's crazy!!
HERE is the post about what we did on our six months. :)

It's funny because Mickey and I were friends for about a year and a half before we got together and it's just weird to think about life before we got together.  We were friends, then best friends and now, here we are.  So much more.  It's freaking awesome.

So, I know you're probably interested in reading the details of our night, so here it goes.
I warn you in advance: There are tons of pictures. :)

8:30am
-We exchanged presents!
-I got him a Ferris Bueller movie poster
(we watched the movie the day we got together and it has special meaning to us)
& a watch. :)
-He got me a gorgeous infinity ring! <3 p="">

9am
-Advanced Acting class-Mickey and his scene partner rehearsed the scene in class
(it's from A Flea in Her Ear, oh farce.)
-We had class until 10:15

3pm
-We watched part of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in our Writing the Script class.
-We had class until 4:15

4:20pm
-We headed on over to PF Changs for the rest of our celebration!!!
-We both got chicken LoMein & egg rolls.
YUMM.
-We asked the waiter to take a picture of us.
(I felt super awkward about it but I guess it's a couple-y thing to do)
-But we also took some of our own :)

-In case you were interested here is what our fortunes read:
{Mickey's: "Your eyes will soon be opened to a world of beauty, charm and adventures."}
{Mine: "Your virtues are priceless treasures."}
[Amy fact: I collect fortunes.  I'm kinda obsessed with them. I have almost a whole jar full of them.]

6:30pm-ish
-We went to a landmark of our city-a tower that towers at 750 feet. Yikes!
(& it was windy!!!)

-We went to a 4D theater (within that area of the tower) and I had plenty of screams, sorry Mickey! It was fun though because I saw him smiling and laughing at my crazy reactions to the snake sounds and water being sprayed at us. Fun stuff! If y'all haven't been to a 4D experience thingy,
I would strongly recommend it!

-And then we went up to the observation deck where we were kindly greeted by the wind.
-I swear I had a Marilyn Monroe moment with my dress, yay for shorts! :)
-We went up right before sunset and watched the night unfold.  It was beautiful.  We walked all around the top and I didn't get scared!!! I'm terrified of heights so it was nice to have such a strong, protective man taking care of me.  ;) *mush alert*

GORGEOUS.

-We also took tons of pictures up there that our faces got tired.
-We had such sweet moments up in that tower.  Seriously guys, it was like we were in a movie.
Like in Sleepless in Seattle or something. I was so giddy.

9pm
-We stopped to get coffee ice cream with marshmallows and then watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
-It was the perfect end to a magical day.

Here are just a few pictures I shared on Instagram [theamycassandra].
:)

And that was our first anniversary together.  It was unbelievable.

My boss and I were talking about how Mickey came along into my life at the right time and I couldn't agree more.  He met my mom and my mom met him before things deteriorated.  It was as if God had planned it all along.  God was taking my mom up to heaven but was putting me in the trusted hands of Mickey.  He was there with me through everything, my sloppy, ugly crying and my achievements.  He was there during the viewing and there to give me a hug when I went back to school.  I feel that my mom and God had all of this planned out so that I never felt alone, even after my mom passed.  I will always keep her in my heart and bring up experiences we had together and it is so nice to be able to share that with him.  He's my angel, he's protecting me and I know that, together we can take on the world.  I am eternally grateful to God for giving me such an amazing mom and wonderful people in my life.  Mickey, thank you for such a beautiful time, I can't wait to do everything with you! I love you!

My Sweet Valentine

So Mickey and I celebrated our first Valentine's Day together!
I woke up so giddy and excited that day! It was amazing!

He surprised me with:
-a balloon that read "I love you"
-a stuffed animal (dog) with a heart
-Sour Patch Extreme
-a dozen red roses *sigh*
-a sweet poem
(he's got a way with words, it's one of his best qualities)
-And we got each other Mickey and Minnie.

I gave him these Datevitation things I had seen a while ago and then again on Marsa's blog.
I wrote him a whole letter and learned a few things.
It was amazing to see his face as he read my girly letter.
;)
Fabric of skirt and all other goodies. :)
So, we had Play Analysis at 9am and then tacos for late breakfast then TV Practicum.
I straightened my hair so that after our 6pm class we could go to Red Lobster (that was the plan).
May I say that our excitement for the cheesy biscuits was a little abnormal..? Yeah.

Long story short.
Our 6-8:45pm class (Producing/Directing Seminar) ran wayyy to long.
(She had even said we wouldn't stay long the class before).
Boo.
We weren't happy campers.
Plans changed.
I still changed clothing.
(I wore this cute skirt, black heels, and black top/cardigan and pearls).
*no picture of outfit
**note to self: get a picture of what you're wearing when your boyfriend's jaw drops. :)
Mickey liked it!

We then headed over to Applebee's because it was too late but we had a blast!
We got seated right away (in this section close to the bar that we've always wanted to get seated in), we got food right away, we pigged out, we laughed and had dessert.
And I fell even more in love with him.

I know I'm missing out a lot of stuff but I wanted to recap our beautiful first Valentine's together.
Next up! Our 1 year anniversary is next month!! Whaaaa?
I'm so excited! I already know what I'm gonna wear and what I'm gonna get him. :)

February 14, 2013

Hope y'all had a wonderful Valentines day!

Tuesday, February 5

Doritos & Destiny's Child.

Mickey and I watched the Super Bowl!
(livestream!)
The last experience I had with the Superbowl was with my mom and it
was fantastic so it was nice to keep a kind of tradition going.
Mickey and I definitely made plans for having Super Bowl parties when we're older.
{I'm so excited!}

He explained to me more about the game of football, which, is not as bad as it seems but having been part of Pep Squad and my JV Dance Team in high school gave me a heavy dose of Southern football.  I'm a basketball/baseball kind of girl!
(But I'm excited to learn more about the sport in the future)

I began rooting for the Ravens but then switched to the 49ers when the Ravens
got a little too violent and non-sportsman-y.
It turned into a really good game!

But now, down to the real reason why I wanted to watch the Super Bowl.
Halftime Show & Commercials.

As a young twenty-something, I have to say that Destiny's Child just rocked my world. I was a pretty big fan of them when they were a band and was so surprised by Kelly and Michelle coming out! It reminded me of my wonderful childhood, we're talking elementary school-middle school.
Good times good times.

Let's just say I belted lots of songs by DC back in the day.
(ahem, Emotion, Bootylicious)

Not to mention Beyonce's Single Ladies.
I turned into a stereotypical girl during the halftime show.
And yes, Mickey was there the whole time smiling at me as I sang and kept saying "Oh my goodness!"
God only knows what he was thinkin'.
;)

Lastly, there were the commercials.
DRUM ROLL....

THIS
was my favorite
we watched it like three times

SO FUNNY.

Saturday I went with Mickey and his parents to a basketball game!
Let's just say, it was a BLAST! I love my NBA team!

I'm also attempting to get back into the swing of things with Zumba, today was day 1 (yikes!) but it turns out Hip Hop classes are offered as well! So pumped!

Hope y'all had fun this weekend as well!

Producing/Directing Seminar & New Experiences

So, this past week just kicked my butt as far as being able to blog but I will certainly fill y'all in!

The last class I hadn't mentioned but am taking is

Producing/Directing Seminar
(6pm class)
Pretty cool teacher
Interesting class
We'll get to let our creative juices flow!
I'm excited!
We've got a 10-page script due this Thursday!

Other fun things that occurred since I last blogged

1. Mickey and I went along with the Entertainment Director of our college's TV station to cover a story.
-It was awesome!
-I interviewed several people and even a relatively famous person!
-We learned so much!!

2. Mickey and I had our first radio show on campus!
-It was so much fun!

3. Mickey and I went to this event that's always held every February in our city and we FINALLY went! We even covered it with our college's TV station!!!
(& we went into this one dance hall we'd been wanting to go to!)
I know I'm super vague but let's just say, it was AMAZING.

We are also starting to get the hang of this semester and are very busy!
I believe that's it for now but I'll keep y'all updated!

Be fearless.

I realized after I posted last time that I, in fact, did have a resolution last year! It was to
"try new things, be fearless."
I don't know about the fearless part but I know I've certainly tried
new things. Mickey, as I mentioned in our 6 months post, has been there
for me for a while and he's helped me so much this past year
with this resolution without him even knowing it.
It's freaking amazing having your best friend and boyfriend in one person.

So these past couple of days I've been looking at my Pinterest boards and trying to organize them and looked a lot at my bucket list and I'm proud to say that I'm completing some of them!
So, in list form, I will talk about {accidentally} fulfilling my 2012 New Year's Resolution!
(I may have mentioned a few of these previously, but there are tons of new ones!)

-Stopped drinking soda!
*It's been a year since I've had soda!*

-Went to a club
-{Danced with a nice stranger at said club}

-Fun fun fun!

-Mickey and I had Chicken and Waffles.
{My first time}
-Participated with television-related stuff at school
-Mickey's 21st birthday!

-Got confirmed
After lots of money that's for sure!
-Mickey and I were going to go there for our first date together but God had much better plans. ;)
We went there eventually!

-Filed taxes by myself

-Got oil change for Anderson
{my car} by myself

-Baked something from scratch

-Became a server

-Learned to drive on highways

-Flown on a plane by myself
{Mickey and I both did that separately but for the first time}

-Mickey and I tried vegan food and here are a few more:

I know there are tons more but I just wanted to show how many new things I did this year and how I feel that this resolution is one that many of us can try!

Lastly, and most importantly, this one happened.

I love you Mickey.  Thank you for making me the happiest girl in the world.

NYE, Resolutions & New Blogger in Town!

So, I'd like to start this blog posts by wishing y'all a
HAPPY 2013!

Whoohoo! I can't believe how fast 2012 flew by.  I'm certainly
glad 2013 is here and I'm excited for the future.

Here's a recap of my New Year's Eve!

I woke up and took about 2 hours to exercise, take a shower and get ready. The whole shabang.
Once I got to Mickey's house we played Wii and watched movies.

{Side note: My mom and I had this tradition of watching a movie
 in the evening every NYE and so Mickey and I decided to keep that tradition going.}

So we watched two movies actually:
The Kids Are Alright (his choice)
New Year's Eve (my choice)

Both were good but NYE was a bit of a disappointment, we already came up with a plan of watching When Harry Met Sally next NYE! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!

It was a fantastic day and it was wonderful to get to see some of Mickey's family again! I missed them so much since I was gone for a weeklong trip up to the Northwest.  And duh, I missed Mickey like crazy.

Mickey and I rang in the New Year partially with
New York (this time with Ryan Seacrest) and partially with our city.
(Another one of our traditions-my mom and mine).

And then! Before we knew it we were in 2013 ringing in the new year the way couples do.
I'm a fan.  ;)

He's just the bee's knees.

So, as far as today? Yeah, we played Wii again and burned calories! We ate and ate and ate and had a semi-marathon of How I Met Your Mother! Love that show.
{Two words: Marshmallow & Lillypad}

Lastly, I've decided on a few resolutions this year.  Last year I didn't really set
any but ended up eating healthier and losing 20lbs! I think setting
resolutions is something important and so here are mine.

1. Be more organized.
{Mainly my room.  When I'm in school my room kind of gets all the stress and craziness I experience and so I will work on keeping it as organized as possible with the small amount of space.  I've already kept the bathroom pretty freaking amazing!}

2. Keep losing weight.
{It will soon mark a year since I've had soda! I want to continue to take care of myself.}

3. Work more toward my career goals.
{I've ventured out of my comfort zones this year and it's helped me be more confident but I want to work in my field of choice and no longer just trying to pay the bills.  I'm still working at the chapel :) but as far as Cracker Barrel, no more.  Reasons are just too long to list. Definitely working at a TV station would be good.  So that's a very important resolution to me.}

I believe these resolutions are achievable and I'm hoping 2013
will be filled with laughter, health and amazing memories and experiences! I can't wait!

***Lastly! Welcome my new favorite blogger: MICKEY!
He likes to blog about films (his passion) and other amazing things as well!
Check his blog out
Glad to have you on board Mickey! ;)

48-Hour Film Experience!

So, as promised in the last post, I will talk about participating in my first ever:
48-Hour Film Experience.

It all started a few months ago, when some of my Comm Arts friends asked me to be a part of their team as "talent" (that's what on-camera people are called) so I immediately said "Duh!" Mickey came on board a bit later as Assistant DP (Director of Photography).  I knew this was going to be a blast.

So here's the premise of this Film Experience.  Each team (or director and asst. director actually) go to this place on friday evening at 8pm and get the genre and location.  The theme was retro. Our genre was horror and location was 50s.  All teams would have 48 hours to film, edit and everything to turn it in by 8pm that Sunday.  And so it started!

That friday night several people got together to write the script/rough outline and the rest of us got info for Saturday (shooting day).  And so, after a slow start that Saturday, we were off!

That's me!!!
We filmed (almost) everything on campus because its architecture is very 50s and it was perfect!!

Just some of us. :)

I played the new girl out of town who's being haunted by The Clique (behind me).
Then, everything takes a turn! Dun...dun...dun!!!
In the wee hours of the morn'.

We finished filming that night/early morning Sunday at around 1am. We were freakishly exhausted but so excited to see the final product!!! That following morning I had to meet the crew at a local high school to shoot a shot and then we wrapped filming! Then it was crunch time! They turned it in in the knick of time.  :)

Mickey and I the last day of shooting. Bright & Early.

Next up was the screening that week.  I was so pumped and excited! I couldn't believe all the people that were there! Even more so, all the people that were gonna see MY FACE on a BIG SCREEN! I could hardly contain myself.  I was like a little kid!
MY FACE on the freakin' BIG SCREEN! Oh. my. goodness.
My momma would've been so proud!! ♥

Everybody's films were very nice.  Although, I did think ours was just the bees knee's.  Haha. Get it? :)
We went to celebrate after the screening at a local Mexican Restaurant.  Only in the South.
Not all the cast and crew were able to go but it was wonderful to be able to celebrate.
It was actually Anthony's birthday and so we surprised him with a birthday sing-a-long at the restaurant, along with a balloon and cake.  It was a fun time!

Some of our amazing cast and crew. :)

There was an awards ceremony the following week but unfortunately we didn't win anything. BOO.  We all thought 3rd place was ours. Oh well! There's always August and December for some more film experiences.  We are all hoping to get together and hang out because, well, we're pretty awesome.

All in all, this was an AMAZING experience.  Thank you Joel and Ysenia for asking me to be a part of your fantastic team!

If you want to see the video, just let me know!
