Hiatus Ends!

This has by far been the longest hiatus I've had from blogging.  Partly because my laptop charger decided to not cooperate and partly because everything's been super busy to write here.  Needless to say, I'm freakishly stoked to share stuff that's occurred since I lost blogged! I will do those through pictures and words! My best friend graduated from college! She teased me after graduating a semester early saying that I was abandoning her and so it was so exciting to see her graduate through live-stream! Next up, Med School! So proud of you Deidra!

Took this selfie with Oprah at a Starbucks inside Target! #NBD ;)
I turned 22! I had made it a goal for myself to go to Forever 21 on my birthday eve, like later in the evening, and purchasing something from Forever 21 because it would be symbolic about always somehow being Forever 21. Mickey liked my idea and so we went and I purchased a necklace!

My birthday celebration started as soon as I got off from work on my birthday eve.  Deidra and Mickey surprised me at the chapel (work), Forever 21 purchase was made and then we headed to PF Changs! YUM.  We stuffed our faces then went to Mickey's house and sang karaoke! I spent the night at Deidra's and proceeded to celebrate on my birthday day! We went to Olive Garden and went bowling! It was an enjoyable weekend and I'm enjoying being 22, so far so good. :)

Mickey and I went mini-golfing for the first time together! We've been separately but in the two years we've been together, we'd never gone and so we, of course, had to change that.

He beat my score by four points…
For the record, I totally let him win…
;)
I got a few holes-in-one! Woohoo!

I've been spending time with my favorite puppy! Although Buddy's now 28! He's finally older than us! He got a haircut earlier this summer and it's starting to grow out! This little guy is so adorable!

Last, but certainly not least, I've moved to a different schedule! This was my dream since I started interning as a Lifestyle & Entertainment Intern and I'm so excited that I'm lucky enough to start this coming week! I've been trained as a fill-in editor and I'll be continuing being a Production Assistant! I love the morning show because there's so much to learn and it's in constant motion! I'm so excited to continue my journey at FOX. It's crazy to believe I've been working there for about six months now! Where does the time go?

There are a few things that are missing but I will be sure to keep y'all updated more frequently!
Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!

Our Second Anniversary ❤️

It's absolutely crazy to me that Mickey and I have been together for two years now.
I feel like we just met and it's just insane to me!
Aahhh! Anyway, here are the mushy details of this wonderful day!
{Here's a throwback of our first anniversary!}

March 18, 2012 feels like just yesterday. :)

I woke up and exercised! I've been running for 30 minutes every other day and I was so glad I exercised that day because we stuffed our faces later (hehe).

Mickey and I went to Pei Wei for lunch!
YUM.
He'd been craving those lettuce wraps and I was craving lo-mein!
I thought about this after the fact but I think we've made
it a thing to eat Chinese food on our anniversary! No complaints! :)
Oh and we a snicker doodle cookie there! Is that normal?
They had snicker doodle cookies at the cash register, so, you know,
of course we couldn't pass those up!

We did not finish our lo-mein or the lettuce wraps so we definitely had tons of leftovers (yum!)
We did, of course, save room for fortune cookies.

Mickey's fortune read as follows:
"It is sometimes better to travel hopefully than to arrive."

Mine read as follows:
"No need to worry.  You will always have everything that you need."

We exchanged presents at Pei Wei and then at his house.
Mickey got me pearl earrings and a freaking $50 gift card to Target!!!!! #happycamper
I got him film cells of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, a Breaking Bad poster, a picture from graduation that I had to order online, and a jar of memories (inspired by Pinterest!)

We then watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off!
An annual tradition on our anniversary!

This part never gets old. #twistandshout

We then got ready to go downtown!
Time kind of flew by and we left a bit later than planned but that didn't stop us!

First stop: Carriage ride!

Thank you Ginger!
It was awesome! Perfect weather! Perfect carriage!
Wonderful stories from the ladies guiding us!

We then went to Rainforest Cafe to recreate our first date! It was so cool! We talked about our first date and how it was like our city threw us a party! Bands were playing downtown, there was so much going on and so much music! It was amazing! :)

And then of course, we had to show off our nice watches that fit the both us perfectly.
We're classy and we know it.
 ;)

We ordered two burgers with fries and then shared a Coke float.
I love how we can be super dressy and still eat burgers and fries.
That's how we roll.

We then walked around a bit downtown and took pictures around the area we were the first time we took pictures on our first date!

Our night in a nutshell!!! :)

Thank you for these amazing two years.  I'm so freakishly happy and I owe it all to you Mickey.  Thank you for being the syrup to my waffle.  Thank you for being goofy with me and for teaching me stuff.  Thank you for being patient with me when I'm a buttface.  Thank you for being spontaneous and making me brave.  Thank you for being you.  I'm so excited for what this year brings!

I love you from the bottom of my heart!

The Real Deal.

So, yesterday I received one of the most important papers I'll ever have.
My College Diploma.

It was in a huge envelope with these BOLD words on the front.  I knew what it was because I saw that other grads got theirs too but I just stared at it.  I just couldn't believe it.

It's crazy to think that I'd been working for this since ever.  I mean, technically, since I was in kindergarten but, dang.  About 16 years of schooling.  So I opened it.

My heart kinda skipped a beat when I saw my name on it.
My mom and I worked so hard to get here and the first thing I wanted to do was show her.
It was bittersweet but I could almost feel her crying tears of joy in heaven.

All I could do was keep staring at this (rather large) piece of paper.  Seriously guys, did y'all know how big this paper is? Is this the norm for college diplomas?

I touched it as if it were diamonds or gold or something super delicate and fancy.
It feels pretty cool!

Well guys, here it is.  It's the real deal. I'm a college grad.
My mom would be bawling her eyes out of pure joy and happiness for me and I have to say, it's amazing knowing that I accomplished one of my biggest life goals.
Next: Get my dream job!

This one's for you momma! Thank you for everything you ever did for me! You were the most amazing momma to me and I'll keep reaching for my dreams!

P.S. Your baby graduated from college! Ahhh!!! We did it!
And did you get a look at that freaking diploma! Ahhh!

-Love, your first generation college grad!

Sunday, December 22

I have a BA!

The best perk of graduating in the fall at my university: the lights!
{From the night before graduation, Baccalaureate Mass on campus!}

Mickey and I still can't believe we graduated from college! I mean…COLLEGE! It's a pretty big deal! We graduated in the same place as I graduated from high school! I was very emotional that morning because I was angry at the fact that my mom wasn't there.  Then I stopped and tried to calm down once I saw Mickey and asked for God's guidance.  I knew that my mom wouldn't be there rooting for me in the stands physically but even better, she was there with a great seat rooting for me spiritually.  I felt her presence as I walked in the coliseum and I could hear her voice and I couldn't help but smile and look in awe at the amount of people there.  It was so surreal, the bagpipes were being played, I got goosebumps and got teary-eyed and got chills (and not just because it was one of the colder days here in the south).  We passed by teachers and I saw one of my favorites (whom we had just seen prior to lining up!) I kept thinking "Oh my God, I can't believe this is happening."

I'll rewind a bit.  I woke up feeling weird because I couldn't believe it was my college graduation day.     I felt a bit frustrated with the fact that I was so sad and angry that my mom wouldn't be there but it all slowly started improving when I saw Mickey.  I met him at his house and we finished getting ready and then left for the coliseum!

We got there and started getting in line and finding our fellow Comm Arts friends and we started taking pictures, laughing, and talking.  Mickey and I went outside for a bit because he was going to leave something in my car when I saw one of our favorite teachers! We screamed, he heard us, we got excited, we took a picture and we all had to leave.  It was so amazing that we got to see him because things had gotten so crazy that it was hard to visit him that last semester! We were literally running and screaming his name then we caught up with him and he turned around,
it was like something out of the movies.

Best theater teacher ever! He's told us he has officially adopted us.  We couldn't be happier! ;)
Then Mickey and I went back inside and came to the realization we were going to graduate together.  It was amazing.  We couldn't believe this was all happening.  We then proceeded to take this picture.

#collegesweethearts
We started lining up and after a while it was our turn to walk into the coliseum!
(Read top paragraph for details).

Next thing we know, bam. We're walking the freaking stage.  But, prior to that, after three hours of waiting for our turn, I realized even the few sips of water was too much for my little body to handle and I ran to the restroom a couple minutes before I walked the stage! (Too much info?)

I heard Mickey's name being called first and I screamed for my darling! Then it was my turn and I found some people I had invited there rooting for me and then I stood there waiting for my name to be called.  I looked out onto everybody there and took a deep breath.  This was it.  I was about to graduate from college.  I knew my mom was bawling her eyes out and cheering like nobody's business.  I was stoked.

"Amy C. …"
that was all I heard and everything got quiet in my head.

It was like I was dreaming.  I started walking the stage and smiled when I got the president of our university and shook his hand, got my pretend diploma, bam, picture, walked more, shook a strangers hand, bam, picture, walked down a ramp, bam, pose, picture, grabbed an alumni pin from some nice ladies, found somebody I had invited, bam, pose, picture, walked back to my seat and saw Mickey, gave each other a semi-high five and sat down.

OMG. I just graduated from college with my college sweetheart.

OMG. I have a B.A. in Communication Arts with a
Concentration in Production with a Minor in Theatre!

First generation. College Grad. Magna Cum Laude. Ahh!

Everything after that was awesome.  We took pictures and went to Chili's that night.  It was fantastic!

December 8, 2013
:)
I will give you guys more information on other things soon, including my internship, job prospects, goals and of course Christmas and New Years stuff! Get ready! I'm back in the blogging world!

Sayonara College!

So I've got several ideas for different posts but I'll start out with
this one because this will most likely be the last one of these posts I'll write. Here is what I think about my classes after graduation! (Here is what I thought of my
last first day of school and here is what I thought about last second day of school.)

Senior Portfolio
Very helpful class! It was nice to make business cards (which I still hand out), a website (which I still brag about) and a 6-month, 5-year plan! It was nice.

Seminar in Film
This class taught me a lot about film and it's nice to be able to talk to Mickey about film a bit more! Whoohoo! It was also nice to watch all kinds of Spanish films I wouldn't have normally watched!

Creativity for the Arts
This was an interesting class. It taught me to look at the world through a teacher's eyes.  It was the last class I needed to take to complete my theatre minor and it was an education course.  I knew going into it that I would try to learn all the information and retain it for my kids in the future so that I could make all subjects interesting to them (like my mom did for me) and I feel I learned just that.  It's pretty cool!

Internship
This class was nice.  It was great knowing that I had an internship I really enjoyed
and was learning a lot out of it.

US History to 1865
Not going to lie, this was probably one of the least exciting classes I took in college.  It was difficult to get interested in what we were talking about but I did learn, which is all that matters!

Oh and my time as Entertainment Director for my campus TV station was amazing, stressful, chaotic and bonkers, but amazing nonetheless.  I just can't believe it's over!

This was our last day of classes!

This was the teacher was the one we had when we met that first day of college in Intro to Mass Comm AND the teacher we had on our last day of college!
(Oh and that's right outside the classroom where we first met!)

My next post will be about graduation!!!!

Fast Forward

Umm…where does the time go?
Here is a recap of what's happened since I last blogged!

Mickey and I went to see the Rocky Horror Picture show, dressed up as Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley for Halloween and went to a Comic Con and met Nicholas Brendon.  I met Jamie Deen at my internship, Mickey and Deidra have been making me laugh a lot.  :) Mickey turned 22 years old!!!! I went on a live shot at my internship and covered a holiday event for my university.

Today, Mickey and I had our first graduation party (mainly for family and adults) and it was a complete blast.  So many people had so many nice things to say.  It brought tears to my eyes.  It's just amazing.  I'm so excited for things to come!
I can't wait to do graduation with you Mickey.  I love you!

Hi!

So I've been incognito for over a month now and it's been super weird not blogging.  So, my plan is to make posts more often and shorter!
Bam.

That's it.

Just kidding.
Here are a few things that happened since the last time I blogged.

I've directed and produced my first two broadcasts for our student-run TV station!
I was the maid of honor at my cousin's wedding!
Mickey and I went ice skating on our way back from the wedding (in Houston)
I've made my own website, business cards, and Facebook personality page
I've been exercising four times a week and have picked up Zumba again!
Mickey and I celebrated our year and a half-aversary! (cheesy?) ;)
Mickey has another part-time job recording videos and posting them online for a magazine!
& we smelled fall for the first time!

P.S. Did I mention we'll be graduating from college in 42 days? Yup.  :)

Our first official Starbucks date the first time we smelled fall!

The First Time I Talked on {LIVE} TV

So some of y'all know of my wonderful career aspirations and how TV practicum this past spring really opened my eyes to it.  As you know, I interned with FOX over the summer as a news intern and recently left.  What I haven't shared with y'all is what has happened next.

I finished my news internship with FOX on August 28.
I had an interview with FOX on August 29 for a different internship and left that day with another internship with FOX! I know, they just couldn't get rid of me!

So, since September 5th, I've been one of the Entertainment and Lifestyle Interns at FOX! I've been going Tuesday-Friday for about 20 hours total! I know! It was the internship I'd been wanting for a while and I'm so blessed and grateful to have it!

Another thing I haven't shared is that my schedule had become very overwhelming.
I had three jobs, about to start a new internship and taking 16 hours.
About two weeks ago, I decided to give my two weeks at David's Bridal.  This was something very difficult for me because I've never been at a job less than 6 months and I felt a bit like a failure.  After much thinking, I realized that I was under so much stress I wasn't enjoying life.  Granted, I'm under stress now, but I love waking up in the morning, even if it is at 5am to go FOX.  I had gotten to the point where I was so swamped with everything I was enjoying anything.  I realized, I needed to step back from something.  I wanted to "focus on my career", which I felt sounded very weird of me to say but that's the truth.  I was veering away from my chosen career path and I didn't like it.  Today is my last day at David's Bridal and I have to say, I learned so much in my two months of being there.  I had wonderful experiences and helped my cousin pick out her wedding gown.  I learned how to use a cash register, how to properly hang wedding gowns, how to be a wedding consultant, how to help bridesmaids out and most of all, how to communicate with all kinds of people.   I don't see this as a bad thing anymore because I know I need to focus on my job as a student, as an intern at FOX, as an Entertainment Director at my university's TV station and as the Assistant Wedding Coordinator at my chapel.  Seriously, when did it become reasonable and okay to use the phrase "focus on my career".  I'm growing up.  Yikes!

So, since that decision my brain has been on TV mode and let me tell you, it's AWESOME.
The internship is absolutely amazing and I'm so freakishly happy to be there.

One more thing, did I mention I was on TV this past Thursday, September 12, 2013 at approximately 9:10am? I was! I talked and everything! The anchors wanted to get a perspective from a younger person on a certain topic (parents going on interviews with their 20-something "child"). I gave a young adult perspective and basically said that was whack.

This was technically my third appearance on TV ever and it was awesome.

1. March 24?, 2008: Good Morning America with my high school orchestra
2. July 2013 FOX lifestyle show dancing during the credits
3. This appearance.

I have to say, it was a moment I will ALWAYS remember and I still can't believe it happened.
It was also very last minute.  So for those of you starting to get upset because I didn't tell you, sorry, there was no time.  Next time, I will tell me people, no worries! :)

So there you have it.  Things are a changing and I can't wait.

Reel-y Wonderful Internship

It's crazy to think that our internship is over.
It's also crazy to think I was there exactly 3 months.
May 28, 2013-August 28, 2013.
The OCD part in me is super happy about it being exactly three months.

I have to say though, saying goodbye was bittersweet.
Granted, there weren't that many people there and most of the interns had already left, but still, it was the end of a chapter and I couldn't help but feel sad.

Mickey and I followed JT most of the time and it was weird saying bye.
It's awesome, though, to think how much we learned in those three months.
I gained more confidence in myself and learned so much more than I thought I would.
I went inside a tattoo shop, I go-karted, I danced on the credits of another show, and Mickey and I were able to start another show from all the experience we had acquired during the internship.

I'm so freaking lucky to have had that internship and to have called FOX my second home.
It made me realize, even more, that working in television is something for me.

I also finished my new reel!
You can watch it HERE!

I am excited for what's to come!

Three Years

Three years ago today, I met Mickey.
1:30pm.
Introduction to Mass Communication class.
It was my first Comm Arts class and I was so excited.

I remember walking into the classroom and seeing him.
He was one of the first guys in college I saw that had long hair.
(Shoulder length approx.)
I thought "Wow, this is college"
I don't know why but seeing his hair like that made me think of college movies and it was one of the first times where I thought "I don't know think we're in high school anymore".

It's weird too because I knew a few guys in high school that had long hair but somehow Mickey's looked better.  It looked healthier and didn't make me cringe.

So here is a nice look at what our profile pictures looked like when we met that day.
Mickey, if you're reading this, I love you!

Mickey is furthest to the left.
Isn't that crazy?

We didn't really start talking till later in the semester, and even then, we weren't that close of friends till the following semester. I mean, who would've known that three years ago today, I would meet this amazing man that makes me the happiest girl in the world?

We've been in each other's lives for three years now. Dang.  Three years.
That's 1095 days.
Wow.

Some of my closest friends I have I've known since 6th grade
and that's still insane to me.  That's at least a decade there!
The concept of time to me is so confusing and just crazy to me, partly because so much has happened and because I'm 21 years old.  I think it comes with the whole growing up thing but wow. You know?

I thank God every day for all the wonderful people I have in my life and I know that three years ago things were way different but if it hadn't been for Mickey and all the other people that helped me through everything, I wouldn't be where I am today.

I'm so glad I signed up for that class at that time.
1:30pm. Intro to Mass Comm. August 23, 2010.
Everything changed.

Our profile pictures now:

Happy three years of knowing each other Mickey. :)
I love you!

Last Second Day of School

I woke up at 10am feeling super rested this morning which was super awesome. :)
I got to campus and headed toward TV Practicum for the first time as the Entertainment Director.
Ahh! I was so excited.
Hank talked about all things having to do with the station.
I'm excited to talk to the students about all things Entertainment!

1:30pm: Creativity for the Arts
This was cool!
There are 16 other girls in my class.
It felt like slumber party minus the whole school thing. Haha.
It's my first class to be taught by a sister.
It was AMAZING.  We started the class by praying.
It was beautiful.
She's actually part of the order of sisters that started and created the chapel.  :)
This girl sitting next to me is having a surgery I had a while ago and I talked
with her a bit after class.  It was really nice to be able to share my experience about that.
#schedulethusfar
3pm: Internship
Oh my goodness. Too many people!
I'm interested to see how it goes.
:)

4:30pm: US History to 1865
He started class early!
A lot of students.
I'm hoping to learn about history.

Mickey and I went to a screening afterwards.
SCARY MOVIE.

I'm excited for this semester.

109 days till graduation!
:)
